The name Castalia comes from the ancient Greek. Legend says that Castalia was a nymph whom Apollo transformed into a fountain at Delphi. It was said that simply drinking the water from this fountain could inspire the drinker to produce magnificent poetry. As leader of the Muses, Apollo consecrated this Castalia fountain to these 9 : Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, Urania. Each of these Muses was said to have domain over a particular art form and brought inspiration to those practicing her art. We know that the Muses are just a fanciful story but doesn’t inspiration sometimes seem to just appear…as if brought into the mind by the magic of a Muse. When looking for a name for our studio, we were both drawn to this beautiful story. Children often cling to stories of magic and fairies and superheroes. As a child all these stories seem possible and real. Castalia Custom Photography captures these hopes, dreams, and magical ideas of children and creates beautiful works of art that will be displayed and enjoyed long after the children have grown. The magic water of our Castalia may not be truly mythical, but it allows our clients a window back to the enchantment of childhood that can be opened anytime.
